Maharaja Shri Krushna Chandra Gajapati Narayan Deo, the first Prime Minister of Orissa and the son of Goura Chandra Gajapati Narayan Deo
was born on 26th April of 1892 at Paralakhemundi, now’s Gajapati district.
He completed his education from Madras University and ascended the throne in the year 1913. He was a perfect educationist and a ruler of kind
hearted and open minded who served his people and state very politely.

1914: Organized Utkal Union Conference at Paralakhemundi; 1916: Appointed as the Honorary Commissioner of Land Force for the Defense of India;
1916: Constructed a narrow gauge railway in between Naupada and Paralakhemundi;
also built a huge library in his palace at Paralakhemundi for the scholars,
researchers and prominent persons
1927: Became a member of Royal Agricultural Commission and member of the Madras Legislative Council;
1930: Visited to London to represent the case of creating new province as Orissa in Round Table Conference;
1934: Ousted the theme of uniting Paralakhemundi with Orissa with a printed memorandum to form a separate province for the Odia speaking peoples;
1936: Orissa Government conferred with a title of ‘Maharaja’;
1937: He created a non-Congress ministry in Orissa;
01-04-1937 to 19-07-1937: He became the Prime Minister of Orissa;
24-11-1941 to 30-06-1944: He became the Prime Minister of Orissa;
1947 to 1950: He became the Member of the Constituent Assembly of India.
