Juhi Das Mohapatra – a genius in painting, silently engrossed in her artistic pursuits with extreme dedication in a small township of eastern Uttar Pradesh. She is busy creating marvels on canvas portraying various nuances of life as viewed from her unique angle of approach.
Her mother Mrs. Jyotirmayee Mohanty, a faculty member of the Womens Polytechnic, Bhubanewar, played a vital role in encouraging and supporting her daughter in remaining committed to art.
A study of Juhi’s paintings shows that she constantly endeavours to identify simplicity in complex situations of life. In most of her paintings one finds portrayal of dilemmas in female existence. The pains and pleasures of the feminine heart finds shape in simplest terms. Though her approach slightly tilts towards abstraction, she at the same time consciously remains loyal to realism as well.
Her artistic accomplishments caught the attention of the print media and she was showered with appreciations for her creative talent. Leading Odia dailies Samaja, Samaya and Sambad and national dailies such as the Indian express and the Hindu reviewed her paintings and admired her achievements in this regard. She was also invited for interviews by various TV channels. It brought her a recognition that she so highly deserved.
Juhi holds a post-graduate degree in history. What is not known to many is that she is also an accomplished violin player and holds a degree in violin from the Prachin Kala Kendra, Chandigarh.
Juhi leads life as a blissful home maker at Shakti Nagar in Uttar Pradesh where her husband Dr. A.K. Das Mohapatra serves as a Medicine Specialist. She is blessed with two daughters. She considers herself lucky for the support and encouragement she receives from her family in her journey towards greater heights in the art world.
