SRIGURU FOUNDATION TRUST is actively operating for over last 15 years, even before its formal registration in 2007, in Tumba Andheisahi G.P of Jagatsinghpur district performing a variety of social welfare activities including relief works during natural calamities. The area covering six GPs with over 30,000 population with Tumba Andheisahi GP in the centre and another twelve GPs in the periphery with over 70,000 population is highly disaster-prone which has undergone the fury of three major floods and the all devastating Super Cyclone of October, ‘99 during the last 35 years, which have resulted in poor financial conditions of people.
This is a thickly populated area, with more than 84% depending on agriculture, more than 79% constituted of small and marginal farmers with a staggering 68 % being fully or partially daily wage earners and has more than 25% scheduled caste and scheduled tribe populations and more than 54 % living below poverty line. The Trust envisages a holistic development of the area for economic development of the people, but has taken up health care on priority as the health-care situation in the aforesaid area is extremely bad with very high IMR and MMR. Officially the area comes under Mandasahi PHC which is located 20 km away and the nearest Health Centre is the District Head Qr. Hospital, still 10 km away with extremely bad transport problems, this being an interior rural area ; ten kilometer down also there is no health care facility. The whole Jagatsinghpur block considered, it has an average of one doctor for 44,333 people though the ICMR yardstick is one doctor for every 3500 heads.
Considering the acute health care needs of the area, the Trust , since over three years, has set up a regular Charitable Health Care Centre named Sri Guru Health Centre, an OPD Institutional Health Care facility at village Orisagarh, 10 kms from Jagatsinghpur, providing free health care services to the people with three specialist allopathic doctors on daily honorarium basis for three days in a week, assisted by one Pharmacist, one Pathology Technician and one Attendant on regular pay roles of the Foundation. The Health Centre also provides to the patients a part of the medicines free, arranged from various sources and through purchase. The Health Centre attends to primary emergency needs like dextrose saline drips to dehydrated patients, minor OT operations like emergency dressing and cleaning, cloth bandaging, plaster of paris bandaging etc. The Health Centre has adopted four primary schools around the Centre, providing bimonthly free health check up of students and also conducts at intervals specialized Health Camps and Blood Donation Camps. Over 26,000 patients, of which over 60 % belong to SC and another 30 % from general weaker sections, have taken advantage of the Health Centre during the last three years and it can serve a much larger rural population located in an interior area if funds are available for its development.
The Trust has purchased 0. 70 acre of land for Health Centre Building. The Trust, a charitable non-profit organization has no funds of its own and is managing the routine activities of Health Centre purely on personal donations of people .affair dating sites
