Pandit Gopabandhu Das by Sri Simanchala Bisoyi

Gopabandhu das was born on 9th day of October in the year 1877, at village suanda in the district of puri,After completely his primary education from the village school and he joined raveneshaw college for his higher study and during this time he started a social organization in the name of ‘’ Puri seva samiti’’ to help the treatment to the patient of diherria and cremation of the deceased of the diherria affected peoples and during his education at raveneshaw, he also started another organization named as the ‘’kratbyabadhini samiti’’ through this organization he strongly protest against anti odiya language movement and to do protect the oriya language,

He initiative all effort to organize 1st session of ‘’Utkal union” well known as ‘’Utkal Samilani’’ at Rambha Palace of district Ganjam in the year 1902.
In the year 1903,’’Utkal Samilini was formed under the leadership of barrister Madhusudan Das , Gopabandhu das was actively participated all the programme of this ‘’Utkal Samiliani’’ as the volunteer,

He passed B.A In the year 1904, went o Calcutta for his B.L degree in the university of Calcutta. During his stayed at Calcutta he also started labour organization named as the ‘’Odisha Labour association’’ and evening school for the resident of odiyas in the Calcutta city for the betterment of their livelihood and education ,which brought hopefully help to the improve the standard of national life of the oriyas at Calcutta.

For the little time, he was a teacher of a school at Nilagiri, and resigned from the post of the teacher ,later he practiced as the junior lawyer of noted lawyer of Cuttack late Gokulananda choudhary ,For the some year, He also practiced Lawyer at purl ,Again he came to Cuttack and joined as the associated of Barrister Madhusudan Das he also joined as the public prosecutor in the court of the Baripada.

Due to non –cooperation movement called by the Mahatma Gandhi ,Pandit Gopabandhu Das resigned from the post of public prosecutor ,He joined in civil disobedience movement of freedom movement of India. After decided with Bhakta kabi Madhusudan Rao,

He founded forest school [Bana Vidayalaya] at satyabadi, near sakhigopal temple with the help of other great educationalist and social reformers of that time like pandit Nilakantha das, Acharya harihar Das, Pandit Godabarish Mishra and pandit krupasindhu Mishra ,this school was situated in the deep and green forest surrounded by the landscape, it was center point for the education lovers of different part of the India for their visited to this Nobel school. and it was also good and quality man making machinery school,

Gopabandhu das Was follower of the mahatma Gandhi and deeply influenced by his non-violence philosophy, he was elected as the member of the Bihar and odisha Legislative assembly from 1917 to 1921.he was well known for his orientation ,

He draw the attention of the government regarding remedial steps of miserable condition of the odiyas by way of his heart touch speech,Gopabandhu das, was also a good journalist and mass communicator,he well understood that ,a mouth piece of odisha was highly required to spread the message of the independence movement to the masses of odisha as well as would be the vehicle of the voice of the people of the odisha to the govern ment,. So he started a ‘’weekly samaj” on the occasion of BijayaDasami on 4th October 1919,

The little tree” weekly samaj” now become the big tree of 92 years old ‘’ Daily samaj’’.Pandit Gopabandhu das, as a whole, he was the great freedom fighter, selfless social worker, Builder of the modern odisha, fearless journalist, a peoples leader, he was awarded ‘’UTKAL MANI ‘’ By the prafulla chandra Ray,at Cuttack, in a felicitation meeting with huge gathered of his followers, after the released from the jail In this great occasion of Birth day of Pandit Gopabandhu Das I paid my flora tribute to him with humble and all respect.
