Ratnagiri is another pilgrimage related to Buddhism, near Udaigiri and Khandigiri caves, and has manysignificant Buddhist sculptures scattered around in the hill range. The excavations have revealed the relationof this place with the Gupta Dynasty, and this dates back to 6th Century AD. The huge monastery that has beenexcavated is thought to be of Mahayana sect, showing that Buddhism spread through these areas in the later part, especially due to the influence of the great kings such as Ashoka and those of the Gupta dynasty. Thereare also some other pieces of Buddhist origin in this place including the monastery, stupas, chaityas etc.
Located in Jajpur district of Orissa, Ratnagiri lies at a distance of 100 km from Bhubaneswar, encompassed by rivers in all the directions. The rivers namely, Mahanadi, Brahmani, Kimiria and Birupa cover Ratnagiri fromall directions.

Mahavinayak temple :
Mahavinayak temple is a major center of pilgrimage and one of the oldest Ganesha temples in Orissa. In Orissa there are five different Kshetras or religious centers celebrated for these Pancha Devata (Five God)viz: Vinayaka or Ganesh kshetra at Mahavinayak hills in the district of Jajpur, Vishnu or Sankha (the attributes in the hands of Lord Vishnu) Kshetra at Puri, Shiva or Ekamra Kshetra at Bhubaneswar, Durga or Viraja Kshetra at Jajpur or Yajanapur. Mahavinayak enshrines the five god heads in one Lingam. It is a place of worship for Ganapati.

Since Ganapati or Vianyak is revered here so its name is 'Mahavianyak'. The speciality of Mahavinayak temple is that the Pancha Devata [five Gods] 'Shiva','Vishnu','Durga','Sun' and 'Ganapati' are worshipped as a single deity in a single sanctum sanctorum. In no other Hindu temples such tradition of worship is present.
A famose ganesh temple. where five (Lord Siva, Ganesh, Sun, Goddess Durga and lord Bishnu) Gods are in around of one big Stone.It is a famous historic place in the heart of mountain the Barunabanta. Its beauty attracts the visiters more towards the green nature and the some streams. The temple of Lord Shiva in the form of five Gods (Sun, Vishnu, Shiva, Parbati and Ganesh). The Mahasivaratri is a great festival here.

This temple is also called Biraja Devi or Girija Devi temple. It is one of 51 shakthi pentagrams and it is where Sati's navel fell. The temple was built in 13th century. Jajpur town has grown around temples. The main temple is that of Birajadevi(biraja mandir). Mounted on a lion she carries a spear with one arm and holds the tail of Mahishasur with the other. Festivals are held at Durga Puja & Kali Puja.

Jajpur is another Hindu pilgrimage. It was named after king Jajati Keshari. In course of time this became Jajpur. It was once the capital of Orissa. Its distance from Calcutta 337 km, Cuttack is another 72 km and Bhubaneswar 100 km more. Navi gaya is found here inside the temple. The materials put in the Navi Gaya is supposed to go to Samudra(Sea). Car festival is also seen here during Durga Puja.The murti of maa birja is famous as it is a dwei bhuja mahisha mardini rupa.
