Naveen Patnaik would flag off the second phase ‘ Baristha Nagarika Tirtha Yatra Yojana ’ sponsored by the State Government on Friday here at the Bhubaneswar railway station. Odisha Tourism Development Corporation (OTDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) for the pilgrimage trip.

 

The Government is engaging nodal officers, doctors and nurses to look after the elderly people during their tour, besides providing free food and lodging. Such journey would be started from Sambalpur soon. Around Rs 1.88 crore would be spent in all the three trips.

 

Sources said the Government is spending around Rs 18,000 for each person in the project. While the cost of people coming under BPL category was borne by the Government, others paid 50 per cent of the expenditure.
